My main thing against Ori is the combat. I fall into your camp too, though. The platforming is a lot more fun in ori for sure. The fact that there was no enemy scaling, or better yet dmg upgrades in ori made the combat worse for me and made it more of a hassle to explore new areas --- DpOblivion won the guru contest |

Surprised to see Hollow Knight so low as a fan of the genre. The map system I thought was pretty cool and a breath of fresh air. The pages he leaves behind as bread crumbs are fun, and I think in general having a hunt for a map of each new area was cool. Sure it might be late into an area sometimes but I think that adds to the isolation and the feeling of being lost and alone. You never know for sure if going left or going right is the right way, there really arent many small rooms like the map rooms in Super Metroid. The other thing, about world transversal and movement upgrades I get though, probably the only weak point of the game for me. Going back to old areas, you didnt get through them much quicker with movement upgrades. Most of the upgrades would allow you to unlock areas that you couldnt get to before and that was that (ori does a better job of this, but I thought it was weird that they give you double jump really early but then scale back the screen so that it doesnt make too much of a difference, curious to hear thoughts on that). Maybe an ice cube every now and then for something of a higher than standard abv (say 50% or higher). For tequila most people sip reposadas or Anejo but I prefer sipping a blanco. Theyre all good though! The only mixed drink I really make are margaritas with fresh squeezed lime juice and agave nectar. Also a shot of tequila blanco with a lime wedge is one of my favorite things. Scotch single malts are generally what I buy. Highlands most of the time. We went to Scotland and stopped by a scotch distillery in the highlands a couple of years ago so that was really cool to experience as a scotch fan. The further you go in the worse and worse it smells, its crazy that the outcome tastes so good. And rum, that shits the worst --- DpOblivion won the guru contest |

Celeste's entire layered difficulty structure (Story -> Strawberries -> B-Sides -> C-sides) is quite possibly the most brilliant case study of good game design ever. I dont remember C-Sides being a thing, was that DLC? Also I would recommend Slime-San if you like that kind of difficulty progression. A game held in high praise that slipped past a lot of people.
